Nick's Day

So I said my next post was going to be Tanner's favorite things from Months 3-6...but I'm still working on taking pictures of him with his toys.  I want that post to have a lot more pictures in it than the first "Our Favorite Things" post.

Yesterday was Nick's very first Father's Day.  He said he enjoyed it, but I feel like I failed.  Tanner picked out a shirt for him (he literally pulled it off the shelf at the store lol), and I made a large photobook from Shutterfly full of the wonderful pictures I have of Nick and Tanner together.

Here's where I feel like I failed at letting him have a great day.  We had to go grocery shopping, because I meal plan on Sunday mornings. He was in a "cleaning mood".  So we (and I mean mostly he, since I tried to keep Tanner occupied) picked up trash, organized the tables, did laundry (clothes, sheets, and diapers), and he started organizing the spare room that has all of our storage crap in it.  Also, I wasn't able to make the dinner I wanted because I don't have all my kitchen utensils I need here in Texas.  I tried, but it so didn't turn out the way I wanted.  Such a bummer.

I just wish I could really let him know how much I appreciate him.  I mean I tell him all the time, but I feel like I need to do more.  He is such an amazing father to Tanner.  If you were a complete stranger, you would be able to see the bond the boys have when they are together.

I love him.

Happy Half Birthday!

Tanner is 6 months old! It is so bittersweet! He isn't that little squishy newborn anymore, but he is growing into this amazing little man.  He has the best personality and is always smiling.  He is so interested in everything!  I just love watching him grow and learn.

He is 16lbs 12oz (38th percentile), and 25 inches long (7th percentile).  He is going to be a short little guy, just like his momma!  He took his shots like a pro, momma on the other hand, did not. :)

I still can't believe how big he is getting!  I love him to pieces!

(He is napping in the pack n play for the first time in the bedroom.  So if I can continue this I will be blogging more! And the next blog will be our favorite things months 3-6.)

Chins!

He loves to grab the camera now.

This is the flirt face

O-Ballllll!!!!

Tanner and Lucas

Tanner has a best friend, Lucas.  He is exactly 3 months older.  Thankfully Lucas' Mom and Dad are going to be stationed in Oklahoma with us for the next 3 years!  We've watched the boys grow   up together.  It's so much fun to see them together in pictures from a few months ago and see how much they both are changing.

I'm going to love watching them grow the next few years!  We really are lucky to have them as friends!

Tanner watches Lucas play.  I can only imagine what they're going to teach each other in the years to come.

This is from today.

These last two are my favorite.  Lucas is showing Tanner how to open the little compartment.

Blogging slump

Call it a blogging slump, writer's block, or laziness. I just haven't had the desire to blog.

We have a great routine with Tanner right now. He naps great and has a very steady bed time. Once he goes to bed I always think that is when I will blog. But I end up on the couch with nick relaxing and catching up in some taped TV shows.

Then I realize I'm not taking as many pictures with the good camera as I use to. I'm taking a ton withy phone, but it's not the same. But then it hit me, I started this blogging slump when we moved to Texas for Nick's training. This isn't home. We don't have any of our own things here. I don't have my computer set up at a desk, because we don't have one here. Tanner doesn't nap by himself because his crib is in Oklahoma (a story I probably should save for another post, I hope I can remember that...). We are only here in Texas for one more month. Then we get to go back home and unpack in our new house.

I honesty think I will be able to blog better when we are home. I still have a lot of blogging material I can cover while we are still here though. I'll throw out some ideas of things I want to blog soon. Hopefully that leaves me accountable and I will actually get it done.

Solids, first time at the park, play dates, 3-6 month baby things we couldn't live without, 6 month post (6 months??!?!!), pool, father's day...

Just give me some time, I promise I'll be back!

Mother's Day

My first Mother's day was great!  It was more of a Mother's weekend.  Saturday Nick took me shopping to get some new clothes.  We also got a couple things for Tanner, of course. And I got to talk to my parents on webcam.  Sunday started out early, because Tanner doesn't believe in sleeping in.  We went to Panera for breakfast and then did our weekly grocery shopping trip.  We had Dickie's BBQ for Lunch and Red Robin for dinner.  (We have to eat at all these great places before we go back to Oklahoma and have NOTHING around!)

Tanner got me a very sweet card, and signed it as well.  And Nick bought me a few kitchen things I had been eyeballing for a while, a dutch oven and an immersion blender.

But best of all was the cuddles, snuggles, and kisses I got from my little man.

He fell asleep holding my necklace that says, "Mom".

I have absolutely enjoyed being a mother for these past 5 months.  I think about this every single day, I know this is what I was meant to do.  I seriously couldn't imagine a life without by boy.  He is my everything!  Little bits of me and little bits of my soul mate all in one little body.  He is incredible and I love him so much.  Words just can not describe how I feel.

5 Months Old!

It's so hard to believe 5 months ago I was laying on an operating table and this little bundle of love made his first appearance.

Today he is a growing, thriving little man.  He laughs, smiles all the time, loves to play, and is so strong!

This month he began solid food, went swimming for the first time, rolled from his back to his belly, and sat unassisted (10 seconds max, so far).  He also has a great daytime schedule, as long as I don't screw it up too much by going out.

My love for Tanner just keeps growing and growing.  And when I think my heart will explode with lovey dovey goodness all over, it just grows some more.  I am so truly blessed.

Since we are temporarily in San Antonio, we don't have our glider to take his comparison pictures in.  But this will work.

His hair stands up on it's own now.

His hands must taste good as they are always in his mouth!

He also much prefers standing to sitting.  He stood himself up on his own here.  I guess he wanted  to look out the window.

Big boy!

Ticklish!

He has my dimple!

Sleepy Boy

I know I've been a slacker again with blogging. Since we've been in San Antonio it's been a little more difficult to have the computer set up and easily available to blog. I am working on trying to get that taken care of. I hope to get a few blogs up soon! Until then here are a few pictures of my sweet sleeping boy that I've had on my phone.
