12 Weeks!

It seems like I just did a weekly update!   Baby is the size of a large plum.  Which is pretty cool since two weeks ago it was the size of a prune.  It's getting bigger and bigger now! :)

The most dramatic development this week: Reflexes. Your baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, if you prod your abdomen, your baby will squirm in response. His intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into his abdominal cavity about now, and his kidneys will begin excreting urine into his bladder. From crown to rump, your baby-to-be is just over two inches long and weighs half an ounce.

How far along? 12 weeks 1 day

Due Date:  12/10/11

Total weight gain/loss:
 I didn't weigh today...

Maternity clothes? A couple shirts still, no bottoms yet, but getting very close to the point of needing them!

Sleep: Hasn't been the great the past week.  I'm having trouble getting comfortable, and the maternity pillow isn't helping much yet.  My joints hurt!

Best moment this week: The pool opened! And only one week left in 1st trimester!

Movement: Not yet, but I keep hoping it's soon!

Food cravings: Nothing.  I'm wanting to get my appetite back.  I miss it!

Food aversions: Pretty much anything at this point

Symptoms: Nausea. Haven't gotten sick since Monday though! Although I feel like I want to everyday

Gender:
 Will find out in July

Labor Signs: None yet, thank goodness!

Belly Button in or out? Still in

What I miss: My appetite, feeling normal, sleep

What I am looking forward to: I'm welcoming the 2nd trimester very much! I'm looking forward to the  end of morning sickness and the burst of energy! (I think I had a good 2 hour burst this morning)

Milestones: Just getting to this point. Almost 1/3 the way through! 12 weeks sounds so far to me! (But not quite as far once I remember this pregnancy could last 40 weeks...)

I feel (and see) my belly has rounded out quite a bit since last week.  When I walk around the pool I wonder if people just think I've eaten too much french fries. I can't believe how far along I'll be at the end of the pool season!

What an amazing feeling!

I had my first doctor's appointment today.  After waiting 7 weeks.  Going in for the regular part of the doctor's visit was fine.  Did a few tests and asked some questions.  I got a bag of goodies, some magazines and lots of info.  After all that was complete we moved to the ultrasound room.

Laying there on the table with the lights dimmed and the ultrasound machine sitting right next to me felt so unreal! I kept telling Nick that it was just weird. When the doctor came in I told him this is the part where I'm nervous.  I told him I was scared that the baby wouldn't be there.  It just didn't feel real.  But he put that jelly on my belly (which is awesome by the way, it's heated!) and a little baby popped up on the screen! I kept giggling trying to keep myself from crying and because of that the picture kept getting messed up.  I finally started to calm down and enjoy looking at the picture. He snapped a picture and right after the baby flipped backwards on top of his/her head.  It was so neat to see! So active!

The doctor said everything was looking good and I measured right on track.  I am SO relieved!

My next appointment in June 20th, but I may have to change that once I get my work schedule.

Wow.

Baby's first picture.  The head is down at the bottom, hidden a little bit.  You can see the right leg really well.  This was the picture taken right before s/he flipped on it's head.

The head is still down on the bottom.  We were able to see the heart beating away and the umbilical cord pulsing.  The white dot in front of the head is the baby's arm.

Week 11

Baby is a lime! For some reason, that seems so big to me!
Baby Center this week:

Your baby, just over 1 1/2 inches long and is now almost fully formed. Her hands will soon open and close into fists, tiny tooth buds are beginning to appear under her gums, and some of her bones are beginning to harden.
She's already busy kicking and stretching, and her tiny movements are so effortless they look like water ballet. These movements will become more frequent as her body grows and becomes more developed and functional. Her diaphragm is growing and she may be hiccuping.

How far along? 11 weeks

Food cravings: I wanted pop tarts for a split second earlier this week, nothing else though

Food aversions: Too much to mention, ugh

Symptoms: Bad morning sickness, although it seems to have gotten better again the past two days.

Belly Button in or out? In

What I miss: My energy!

What I am looking forward to: Monday's appointment! I've been waiting for 7 weeks!

Milestones: One more week closer to 2nd trimester

Sorry about the picture, I don't know why it turned out darker than usual.  This was taken before I ate because after I eat I look like my belly has grown 4 weeks! It may not look like it's grown too much but I can tell it has! I can feel a little ball like thing when I lay on my belly.  Now, it's time for a nap!

Pretty happy!

Today is a good day, despite the rainy, gloomy weather.

Doing some reading online (like always) I started worrying about not getting an ultrasound at my first appointment on Monday.  I've heard that many women get their first during the anatomy scan at 20 weeks.  I started thinking this would be the case for me so I wouldn't get my hopes up.  But today I got a call from my doctor's office confirming the appointment.  The nurse also told me to be sure to bring my military ID, and any medications I take.  I was able to get a question in there and asked what the appointment would consist of to better know if it would be worth it to my husband to go into work late.  She said there would be a lot of intensive questions from the nurse, a lot of background info for my history, a few tests, possibly some blood work, and an ULTRASOUND!!!  I was SO happy to hear that!  She said it would be a good time to bring him!  I'm feeling a little better bout this now!

And to top it off, I found out Starbucks can make all of their coffee decaf, so on the ride home today I enjoyed my decaf skinny vanilla latte and pumpkin bread!  First time since October since I have had Starbucks.  :)

Really?

I've read a lot.  Several pregnancy books and information online.

 Morning sickness...

It usually starts around 6 weeks and sometimes ends right around the end of the 1st trimester.  I've felt nasty since week 6, nausea wise, but I've never thrown up. I was thinking it was starting to get a little better.  Nope.  Apparently that was JUST the beginning.  I've been lucky enough to get sick two days in a row now.  At 10 1/2 weeks!  Crazy. I hope I don't have it as bad as my mom did, being sick all nine months long.

Problem is, there is nothing in my house that sounds even remotely appetizing.  It's going to be another long day.

10 weeks!

This last week feels like it flew by!  Baby is now the size of a prune.  Which is pretty cool because in a couple weeks s/he will be a plumb!  I really enjoyed reading babycenter.com's info for this week! It is pretty in depth, and it makes me happy! :)

He's swallowing fluid and kicking up a storm. Vital organs — including his kidneys, intestines, brain, and liver (now making red blood cells in place of the disappearing yolk sac) — are in place and starting to function, though they'll continue to develop throughout your pregnancy.
If you could take a peek inside your womb, you'd spot minute details, like tiny nails forming on fingers and toes (no more webbing) and peach-fuzz hair beginning to grow on tender skin.
In other developments: Your baby's limbs can bend now. His hands are flexed at the wrist and meet over his heart, and his feet may be long enough to meet in front of his body. The outline of his spine is clearly visible through translucent skin, and spinal nerves are beginning to stretch out from his spinal cord. Your baby's forehead temporarily bulges with his developing brain and sits very high on his head, which measures half the length of his body. From crown to rump, he's about 1 1/4 inches long.

How far along? 10 weeks 1 day

Due Date:  12/10/11

Total weight gain/loss:
 +1lb

Maternity clothes? Yes, shirts only. BeBand for pants

Sleep: I've been sick so I haven't been sleeping great. I got a new maternity pillow though, so no more aches and pains!

Best moment this week: Going to OB orientation

Movement: None yet, but I've read that in experienced moms they can feel movement around this time because they know what they're looking for. So I'm hoping it might be soon!

Food cravings: I had one craving this past week. For Burger King. They are the only burgers I like.

Food aversions: Anything greasy

Symptoms: I had a bit of nausea yesterday-more like I just didn't want to eat anything even though I was starving.  I've been sick with a nasty cold so that could be a reason.

Gender:
Still a little early. But I'm really thinking boy for some reason. But I would love either!

Labor Signs: Nope!

Belly Button in or out? In

What I miss: Feeling normal

What I am looking forward to: First doctor appointment in a week!

Milestones: Double digits! :)

Here is my weekly belly shot.  I swear I'm smaller than I had been.  Bloat is a crazy thing! I have more of a bump at the bottom where it should be now. Ha!

This last week I went to OB orientation on base.  It was pretty much a bunch of lectures, but I learned some.  It was nice to hear the differences in the two hospitals here in town.  I'm still pretty happy with the one I choose.  I didn't really like the lectures on exercise and diet.  I know it's important. But right now, I am still so tired all day long. Once I start getting that extra energy boost during the 2nd trimester, I'll walk more.  And being pretty pick with what I eat, I will eat what I am craving, because if not, I won't be eating.  I think getting a little food in, even if it isn't the best for you is better than not eating at all because of nausea. Anyway, the best part was the very generous gift they gave each one of us!  We got a ton of baby stuff from Gerber! They are so cute and I can't wait to actually use it all! Here is a picture:

Overall, this past week has been ok.  I started getting sick on Friday and have been sick since.  It really would be nice to be able to breath again!

Ugh

I woke up with what feels like a cold.  I can't breath, and I have a terribly sore throat.  Not to mention still feeling nauseous (thanks baby).  I can't wait until I can feel better!  3 weeks until the 2nd trimester and I will welcome the end of morning sickness and the increase in energy level!

Ugh, I hate feeling like this!

9 Weeks!

Baby is the size of a green olive now!  And a little info from Baby Center:

Your baby's heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form — as do her tiny teeth. The embryonic "tail" is completely gone. Your baby's organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks. Her eyes are fully formed, but her eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. She has tiny earlobes, and her mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct.

Food aversions: Continues to be left-overs

Symptoms: I had my worst day of morning sickness this past week but since then it has seemed to subside slightly.  Still getting a little nauseous in the evenings and in the car.

 Still too early

Labor Signs: Hopefully not for a LONG time

Belly Button in or out? In

What I miss: Splenda. I'm holding off until I talk to my doctor

What I am looking forward to: OB orientation on Wednesday! They give out goodies!

Milestones: Baby is officially a fetus now, no longer an embryo

Yesterday was amazing!  Nick planned a whole day out for me.  We went down to the city to go shopping and get some good food!  It started with breakfast at Chick-Fil-A.  Then we drove the hour and half to OKC to target.  I LOVE target, and miss it so much!  I got some really comfy pajama pants (that I know I will be wearing often throughout this pregnancy) and a couple new shirts.  Then we went to Qdoba for lunch.

Next we went to 2 baby stores!  We were able to gather a bunch of ideas for baby's nursery!  If we have a little boy, we know exactly what bedding we will be getting! Nick wanted to get it now because he liked it so much.  But I know that would jinx us and we would have a girl.  (Although Nick says a girl can like planes too). Here is a picture:

Of course we wouldn't get that little chair.  But Nick loves the mobile because it has little planes on it (I'm still not 100% sold on needing a mobile, but I don't know).  He also loves the lamp with the little plane on that too.

I feel like I'm carrying a boy, but everyone else seems to believe it's a girl.  I guess we'll see!

Anyway, after going to the baby stores and window shopping, Nick took me to the mall.  An ACTUAL mall! The mall we have here in town is pathetic.  I got some new tennis shoes since I got a new job and I want my feet to be comfortable.

After visiting the foot locker, we went to a couple of the maternity stores.  Yes, I know it's still early, but I got a couple shirts anyway and I really like them!  I'm a little sad because after trying them on last night after eating a lot yesterday I really filled them out. :/

After walking around the mall for a while we went to the zoo! I absolutely love the zoo!  We walked all over, took some pictures and really enjoyed being together!  And after spending a few hours there, Nick took me to Toby Keith's!  I got to have my salad!  It was an amazing day! Nick did so good! How in the world am I going to top that for Father's day?!

I still stress myself out though.  I read online all these women who go to their first doctor visit and they don't hear a heartbeat.  Or the baby stopped growing several weeks back.  I'm so scared to have that happen! Having the nauseous feeling I get every once in a while really helps me, keeps me grounded. It's all in God's hands.  I just have to pray that everything is fine.

I've contemplated buying a fetal doppler.  I would be able to hear babies heart beat. That would for sure keep my mind at ease.  But I know there could be a day where I may not be able to find it and completely flip out, even though everything could be just fine.  I just have to try to stick it out to my appointment in 2 weeks.  I'm so happy it's only down to two weeks! When I made the appointment I had to wait 7!  Time is flying by, I just hope everything is fine.

I've really rambled on long enough.  I've got to go grocery shopping now.  I'm bringing Nick this time so I don't go over board on the ice cream! :)

By the way, I'll have a belly picture next week.  I'm hoping the bloat will be gone by then.  I don't like looking and feeling like I'm 5 months pregnant.

So...

I learned something today.  Never allow a pregnant woman to go to the grocery store alone, hungry...

Pizza face

I've been craving pizza for a few weeks.  I get maybe one pizza a week, which is amazing.  But I am now the proud owner of a pizza face.  I  was always really lucky growing up, never really having acne.  But now, I have more breakouts on my chin than I ever have before.  Gotta love hormones, right?
