I'm here

I apologize for the lack of posting the past few weeks. It's been pretty busy around here.  First, I want to thank those of you who commented and emailed to see if we were okay after the tornado in Oklahoma last week.  It was about 2 hours away from us.  Luckily we didn't get much here.  But I watched the whole thing happen on our local news.  It was just so devastating.  I don't really care for Oklahoma much, but seeing how the people here came together to help one another was amazing.  They really are something special.

I haven't posted because we have been in Phoenix.  One of Nick's best friends got married!  It was such a beautiful ceremony.  And Tanner was the ring bearer! He walked halfway down the aisle and realized everyone was watching him. So he stopped, smiled real big, and started walking backwards back towards the door.  He was so cute!

I've got some other things to talk about as well, but I am waiting for another day.  I'll try to get some pictures together of the wedding and of Phoenix to share with you!

A Day in the Life...Part 2

1:00pm- Tanner is finally asleep.  So I make myself another cup of coffee and some lunch.  Nick comes home for a quick bite to eat so I make him lunch, too.  Then I sit down and relax a little bit and write a blog post.

2:45- Tanner poops and wakes himself up. I change his diaper and he's ready to get up for good.

3:00pm- We go out in the backyard and play!

3:30pm- Since we are already outside, we go on a short walk down the street.

3:45- It's HOT! 90 degrees. So we come home and cool off with some ice water, a snack, and some Mickey Mouse.

4:10- We play in the living room for a little bit, and then test out a new app on my phone.

4:30pm- Diaper change. Tanner tells me he wants to read.

4:45pm- Tanner is cutting 4 teeth at the moment and he gets cranky real quick. He starts fussing, and I know he just wants to cuddle with his paci.  So I give in, and give him his paci.

We read a little more.

5-6:00pm- Tanner asks for another snack, and I begin preparing dinner.

6-6:20pm- I have dinner in the oven and Tanner watches me wash dishes.

6:30- Nick gets home from work and dinner is ready.

Seasoned chicken and stuffed tomatoes.

Tanner didn't like it.  Like normal.  So he had greek yogurt.

7-7:30- Nick gives Tanner a bath while I pick up toys.

7:30- Tanner is out of the bath.  We try to get him to pee on the big boy potty (like we do every night) but he doesn't go.  He gets changed into his PJs, plays a little bit, nurses, and I carry him back to his crib for the night.

Tanner is asleep by 8pm.  I take a quick shower and then relax with Nick and catch up on some of our recorded TV shows.  And then bed around 10:30.

And there you go!  A nice long typical day in the life.  Not all of our days are that boring, though. :)

A Day in the Life...Part 1

I've been wanting to do something like this for a while.  And since I have a pretty decent routine, it seemed like a good time to do it.  I took pictures of everything I did on Monday.  There was nothing special about Monday, it was just a random day.  I didn't have laundry to do, I didn't run that day, and I didn't need to run any errands.  It was a typical day.

I didn't use my DSLR for these pictures so I apologize   Many of the pictures are blurry.  Especially if Tanner was moving a lot.

6:30am- Tanner wakes up. He usually wakes up between 7 and 7:30, so I let him play in his crib for a little bit, hoping he would fall back to sleep.

7:00am- No luck.  I go in and get him up, and change his diaper.

7:15- Tanner nurses, and watches some Mickey Mouse while I check facebook and email.

7:45- Tanner helps me in the kitchen while I make breakfast.

8:00am- Breakfast.

8:15- Vacuum, sweep kitchen, wash dishes and unload dishwasher.  Tanner loves when I vacuum.  It's a game to him.

8:45- Time for tot-school!

9:30- Tanner tries so hard to get the stroller out of the spare bedroom.  He tells me "help" and "outside".  So we get dressed, I do my make-up, and he has a diaper change.

10:00am- We go for a nice walk.  After about 1.5 miles we stop at the park to play.

11:00am- I water my plants while Tanner plays in the living room.

(For some reason blogger will not let me type next to the picture anymore...)

11:30- I start Tanner's lunch (cheese ravioli), and we play in the kitchen.
12:00pm- Tanner eats.

12:30pm- Diaper change, nurse, and Tanner to bed.

(But he doesn't fall asleep...)

(He's standing up on his pillow pet)

1pm- He finally falls asleep.

Next post will be part 2 of my "Day in the Life"...

Tot-School (Yellow Week)

Tanner is 17 months

Yellow week was a little slow, but Tanner seemed to enjoy what was available to him.  Of course, his favorite was the play-doh tray.  He looks forward to that part every day.

I also had a tray for transferring, and a yellow rice sensory bin.  The rice was very easy to dye.  I added a little water and food coloring and then let it dry overnight.  Tanner would take handfuls and drop it all on the carpet.  But he had fun "stirring" it around.

Shaking it and making lots of noise.

This week Tanner actually used the dot paint the way it is supposed to be used.  And then he became a little obsessed with putting the cap back on.

He loves peeling all the shapes off of the flannel board. His favorite shape- Star!
We also did a little review from the past few weeks. He's slowly starting to get it!

I'm looking forward to green week.  I think it will be a little easier for Tanner since the color is completely different than the warmer colors (red, orange, yellow...)

Check out 1+1+1=1 to see what other tots are doing this week!

It's a great day to check out some "Ats"!

An "at" in Tanner language is "airplane".  He sees them flying over the house all day long.  And we hear them constantly.  It's gotten to the point where I can completely ignore it.  But Tanner loves them.  When we are at the park (on base) he stares at each one that flies over.  Every couple of minutes.  He points and yells, "AT!".  So this last weekend on our way to walmart we stopped by the visitor center outside of the main gate and let Tanner check out the static displays.  He's done this before back in July in San Antonio, but he was only 7 months old and I'm sure he doesn't remember.  But I do! See?

Such a sweet little thing.

OK, back to this weekend.  He enjoyed them.  But he really liked the rocks on the ground.

Twins. We are a mustang loving family.

I LOVE this picture!

We tried to get a picture of Tanner in front of the sign.  I thought it could be something we do at every base to move to.  He wasn't really having any of that.

Walking back to the car.

Almost lost something important!

This was on our way to Walmart.  Oklahoma can be pretty.

And just a random picture because he is adorable.
